Quienes me conocen saben que me da miedo la noche, la oscuridad y el silencio que se respira. Por la noche todo es abstracto, es como si al oscurecer se abriera una puerta hacia nuestro subconsciente, y quedaran libres todos los miedos, los temores, los recuerdos...
Desde que era pequeña me asustan las noches. Me recuerdo tapada hasta arriba y mirando la oscuridad a través de la puerta de mi habitación... siempre pensaba que algo o alguien entraría por allí... mi cabeza comenzaba a dar vueltas, y casi siempre el miedo me vencía y acababa durmiendo con mi hermana.
Ya más mayor, la noche se ha vuelto un poco mi aliada. Sé que es en ese momento cuando más capacidad tengo de abstraerme, es como si la luna atrajera esa parte de mí más intimista y profunda. Es entonces cuando mejor escribo, cuando mejor creo, o cuando aprovecho la magia nocturna para hacer cosas. En esos momentos me gusta estar despierta... pero no siempre es así, a veces la noche se vuelve enemiga mía, y hace que recuerde, que vuelvan a mi mente las imágenes del pasado, de las ausencias, de los temores.
Quienes me conocen, saben que no me gusta dormir sola, de hecho casi nunca lo hago. Mis peores recuerdos siempre han sucedido con un escenario estrellado de fondo.
Ayer era tarde y estaba oscuro. No sé si había luna o no, y ni siquiera pude ver las estrellas... no podía dormir. Me había leído todo lo leíble: revistas de moda, periódicos, libros... las horas pasaban y Morfeo no llamaba a mi puerta para que me meciera en sus brazos. Entre insomnios y recuerdos abrí un cajón y apareció la caja. Allí estaba, con todas sus cartas dentro. Hasta ayer jamás la había abierto, recuerdos, dolor, amor... no quería volver a destapar mis sentimientos... pero no fui yo, fue la noche, siempre es ella la única que me hace débil. Así que la cojí, sacudí el polvo y la destapé... y con ella se fue parte de mi entereza...
Había decenas de cartas, con su letra, la mayoría preciosas, juramentos, promesas, y amor por todos los lados... algunas eran muy graciosas, otras no tanto... eran solo letras, pero removieron mis entrañas... Lo que me faltaba para el insomnio. Cada frase que leía, cada palabra, cada momento... iban poco a poco haciéndome más débil... qué insignificantes somos a veces los seres humanos, cuando nos dejamos llevar por los sentimientos.
Desde que le dejé, no había pensado casi en él. "Lo llevas genial", me decían mis amigos... ciertamente era así... lo llevaba tan bien como un preso lleva el verse en libertad. Ya sabéis, mis manos ya no estaban encerradas en mis bolsillos. Pero ayer, de golpe, me vinieron todos los buenos recuerdos (maldita mente engañosa, ¿por qué no recordé también ayer sus cosas malas?).
La mente es curiosa, es carprichosa, a veces nos engaña y cuando creemos que estamos llevando las riendas de una situación, nos abofetea con una pequeña dosis de realidad.
Le vi hace unas semanas, sin embargo en mi mente su imagen está difusa... ha pasado demasiado tiempo, demasiadas vivencias. Sin embargo recuerdo sus tonterías, sus pequeños detalles a la perfección. Cierro los ojos y veo perfectamente los suyos... siempre me encantaron, transmitían algo diferente y especial. Pero lo que más recuerdo son sus manos... siempre me he fijado mucho en las manos, porque las manos hablan casi más que las palabras. Las suyas eran firmes, cuadradas y delgadas, así como de buena persona... siempre buscaban las mías hasta cuando estábamos enfadados.
Recuerdo también su dejadez vistiendo, y me volví a reir recordando aquella vez que por fin me fui con él de compras y se probó unos pantalones de "gay" como el decía... jamás conseguí que se los comprara... a pesar de su pasotismo, me encantaba su forma de vestir, porque siempre era él mismo, lo era siempre al fin al cabo.
Cerré la caja y me asomé a la ventana, me hacía falta el aire... me miré al espejo y estaba con los ojos llorosos... ¿Como puede ser que le eche de menos?. De pronto un golpe de viento me abofeteó en la cara, y de pronto me vi a mí misma sonriendo recordando la primera semana de novios, que yo estaba toda nerviosa, y fuimos a patinar por el retiro. Ninguno de los dos sabíamos, pero eso era lo de menos... nos pusimos los patines, y comenzó un defile sin fin de risas y caídas... desués de intentar mantener el equilibrio cienes de veces, nos dimos por vencidos y nos tumbamos en el cesped... Mientras tanto, un chico aprovechó el despiste para robarnos las mochilas, y con ellas nuestros zapatos, el móvil, el dinero... Todavía me parto de risa recordando cómo logramos llegar sin saber patinar a mi casa... nos acaban de robar, y no teníamos nada, sin embargo creo que nunca me reí tanto. Íbamos de la mano, cayendonos muertos de risa, y al cabo de dos horas nos dimos por vencidos y decidimos recorrer descalzos lo que nos quedaba de camino. Ese día supe que ese chico sería algo más que un amigo. No nos conocíamos, pero él se preocupó solo de mí, recuerdo que a él le habían robado muchas más cosas, pero no le importaba, le quitaba hierro al asunto mientras me decía... lo importante es que tu estés bien...lo demás ya se arreglará.
Nunca entendí porqué me quería tanto: al fin y al cabo solo soy una chica despistada, alocada, algo olvidadiza, algo niña a veces... siempre me lo preguntaba, pero donde yo estaba allí estaba él, siempre venía, sin embargo pocas veces yo iba...sobre todo el los últimos momentos.
Ayer ya era tarde, no recuerdo la hora. No quería mirarla. guardé la caja y borré los mensajes del móvil. Menos uno que me escribió hace tan solo unos días. Ese no lo borraré nunca. Ese se queda conmigo.
Me metí sola en la cama... y mi cabeza empezó a preguntarse, ¿porqué ahora recuerdo solo sus cosas buenas?... porqué no recuerdo sus broncas, sus enfados, su cabezonería y terquedad, su exceso de protección, su intento de cambiarme siempre y volverme más cuerda, sus ganas de quitarme la libertad, sus numeritos en los momentos más importantes (cumpleaños, graduaciones, fiestas)...? ¿Por qué no recuerdo cuando tenía que cruzarme dos calles para que no viera que había salido por la noche con mis amigos?, ¿y por qué no me acuerdo del tiempo que también perdí a su lado?...
¿Porqué no soy capaz de centrarme en lo feliz que me siento ahora que soy más yo que nunca?
Es la noche, sé que es ella... que me embruja y me engaña, siempre lo ha hecho. Distorsiona mi realidad, la conozco desde hace tiempo. Ayer estuve a punto de llamarle... sin embargo amaneció de nuevo... y con el día volvieron a cerrarse las puertas del subconciente...y volvió la lucidez, la realidad y el discernimiento.
Probablemente ahora estoy sola, cierto... pero soy yo misma. Soy feliz. Ojalá llegue el día en que volvamos a ser lo amigos que éramos antes... ojalá llegue el día en que la noche no altere mis pensamientos.

Joder Milady...yo no tengo ninguna caja con sus cartas pero tengo a mi hijo (con quien acabo de hablar) para recordarme esos momentos vividos con mi ex. Y sí, es curioso que la mayoría sean recuerdos buenos. Recuerdos que hacen plantearme si la decisión tomada entonces fue la correcta y si no se hubiera podido solucionar de otra manera. I want to convert some mpeg2 video files so that I can play them on my Xbox360 using a USB key, but so far, I haven't had any luck.
Are there any free applications out there which can do this, and if so, can anyone recommend one which they've personally used?
So far, I've tried WinFF, MediaCoder and Handbrake, but none were successful. I would have tried MPEGStreamClip, but it doesn't like the latest version of iTunes.
When playing back from a USB stick, I believe the supported formats are WMV (unprotected), Mpeg4, H.264 and AVI.
